My Bio:

After graduation I went on active duty with the Navy Seabees. Spent 1 year on Midway Island and 1 years In Thailand. The next 4 years were spent working for Hynes Bros, Inc. We were a distributor of major appliance and sold to dealers thru out the Washington D.C. area. Moved 1969 the Atlanta, GA to become Southeast Regional Sales Manger for a national appliance manufacture. In 1975 I divorced and began raising my 3 children alone, a very enlightening but rewarding experience. I met Bobbie in 1979 and 6 months later we married. We had a full house with 5 children ages 3 to 15. In 1981 I went to work for a National Home Builder as a superintendent building about 600 homes over the next 13 years. In 1994 I decided it was time to start my own company and build custom homes. Bobbie and I live in a wonderful mountain community in North Georgia. Currently our youngest son Michael, Bobbie & I are building 2 to 3 custom homes per year. Down from 10 to 15 due to the current economy. Bobbie and I love traveling and hanging out with are 3 grandsons and dog Chico.

School Story:

My fondest memory's were being a part of the school plays "Take Time Out" and "Mad About Manhattan".

William "Bill" Guntow (Carroll ’62)
July 7, 1944 - Feb. 20, 2014

Resident of San Jose William Paul Guntow passed away at home surrounded by his family. He will be remembered for his kindness and his humor.

William was born in Washington, DC to John and Margaret Guntow, graduating from Archbishop Carroll High School. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army and served in Vietnam. Bill, as he was known to his many friends, started at C&P Telephone Co. and saw it evolve over 32 years into AT&T, Bell Atlantic, and Verizon from whence he retired. He lived with his family in Maryland where they enjoyed a busy spiritual and social life at St. Mary's Parish in Landover Hills. Needing to keep busy after retiring to Lancaster, PA, Bill put his friendly demeanor to work part time at Black & Decker. He finally retired completely when they moved to California to enjoy snow free winters and time with their daughter.

William is survived by his devoted wife, Mary Ann; loving daughter Marianne (Shane) and siblings John "Jack" Guntow (Carroll '58), James Guntow (Carroll '60), Elizabeth Burch (Gary), and Margaret Malloy (James, deceased). His smile, laugh, and fun loving spirit will be missed by all who knew him.

Friends and family are invited to a funeral service on Tuesday, March 4, 2014 at 11:00 am at St. Francis of Assisi, 5111 San Felipe Road in San Jose. To honor William, please consider a donation to Wounded Warrior Project.
